As we sit and prepare ourselves for a great Sunday dinner, we decided to open one of our wines we’ve been saving for a special occasion. You ask what makes today a special occasion? Well to be honest there’s nothing really special about today, but just opening a wine that’s been sitting in our wine room for a few years makes it special.
Mendocino County, just north of the San Francisco Bay Area, is a land of oversized natural beauty, free thinking individuals, and a long wine-growing tradition. The wine making traditions show themselves in this 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon.
SketchBook Winery is located in Mendocino County nestled in the rugged coastal valleys. Mendocino’s rocky hillside vinyards produce grapes of remarkable character with complex flavors of cedar, dark berry, and chocolate, with a lengthy finish enriched by toasty oak tones. This 2008 SketchBook Cabernet Sauvignon has all those flavors which leaves a great taste in your mouth for a long time. Talk about a full body, complex wine with a great finish. WOW! I’m glad we have another bottle in our wine room, so we can enjoy it on another special occasion.
We paid $14.99 for the bottle about 3 years ago. Hope you enjoyed my first blog post as well as we enjoyed the wine!
